Paramount has released the first trailer for Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender (2026), the highly anticipated animated film that continues the story of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005–2008) series continues. The film brings the familiar characters together years later for a new adventure.
A new airbender
In the new film, Avatar Aang still struggles with the fact that he is the last airbender on Earth. The trailer shows Aang discovering another ancient airbender; together they hope to revive his culture.

It’s been years since Aang, the world’s last airbender, defeated the Fire Lord Ozai. When he learns that there may be another airbender, one named Tagah, Aang discovers that there is a powerful staff that could restore his culture.
Original creators return
Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, creators of the Avatar: The Last Airbenderseries, have returned for a new film. Both makers co-wrote the story. The original series ran on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008 and remains one of the best-received animated series ever created.
Title change
The film bore the title for a long time The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbenderbut now goes through life as Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender. The name change came after the full film unintentionally leaked online in April.
Release date
The film will be released in the United States on July 25 on Paramount+. The Dutch release date is not yet known.
