An American influencer specializing in bodybuilding died at the age of 32, in what appears to be a drowning on Tuesday in Thailand.
Connor Murphy allegedly jumped into a lake to escape the police, according to several local media, including the Bangkok Post et Thairath. He reportedly swam for several minutes before showing signs of exhaustion and drowning. His body was found about twenty meters from the edge.
Authorities in Samut Prakan were urgently called after reports of a man behaving erratically in a luxury residential building.
An autopsy was ordered, as the body showed no signs of violence. In his vehicle, investigators discovered two unused syringes as well as several other empty ones.
According to the Bangkok Post, Murphy had rented this luxury accommodation for three months, with his 22-year-old girlfriend. She told police that his unusual behavior had surprised her.
The influencer had over 2.7 million subscribers on his YouTube channel and Instagram account. He regularly published content related to bodybuilding, notably promoting the concept of “looksmaxxing”, an approach aimed at optimizing one’s physical appearance to seduce.
