Emmanuel Macron proposed, Tuesday July 7, to appoint senator LR François-Noël Buffet, a former minister with recognized skills but criticized for his past positions on abortion or marriage for all, to the position of Defender of Rights.
“The President of the Republic plans, on the proposal of the Prime Minister, to appoint François-Noël Buffet as Defender of Rights,” the Élysée said in a press release. The Law Commissions of the Senate and the National Assembly must still ratify or reject this appointment, after having successively heard François-Noël Buffet.
