American and Iranian envoys to Qatar
An Iranian delegation is due to meet mediators in Doha on Wednesday as part of negotiations with Washington to end the war.
US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s confidants, arrived in Doha to discuss Iran and the situation in Lebanon with Qatari officials, said Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari.
Iran also announced the sending of a delegation to Qatar this week, but ruled out any direct contact with American officials, after exchanges of strikes which threatened to shatter the truce.

Iran was unable to export “a single barrel of oil” during the US blockade imposed by Donald Trump in retaliation for the Islamic Republic’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, according to the head of the Iranian negotiating team.
Since the lifting of the blockade, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the United States on June 17, “we have exported more than 40 million barrels of oil (…) On the other hand, during the previous 50 to 60 days, we had been completely unable to export even a single barrel of oil,” declared Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf during an interview broadcast Tuesday evening on television of state.
Iran favors diplomacy but is ready for “war”
The head of Iran’s negotiating team, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said in an interview broadcast Tuesday evening on state television that Iran prioritized dialogue with the United States while remaining ready for “war.”
“We favor dialogue but if this dialogue does not materialize, we are also ready for war,” declared the influential Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf who is also the president of Parliament, while Iranian and American delegations must separately hold discussions with Qatar, a mediator country with Pakistan.
