
Buried, but alive. Among the victims trapped under the rubble after the double earthquake of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 which devastated Venezuela on June 24, some survived. At this stage of the rescue operations, however, specialists believe that the chances of finding survivors are extremely low. But stories continue to defy the impossible. As if trying to exorcise the horror of a disaster which has already left nearly 2,000 dead and tens of thousands missing, the images of these rescues are captivating. They testify to the refusal to give up, through the determination of the rescuers and the incredible strength of survival of the survivors.
