The moment has finally arrived, the first teaser of The Love Hypothesis (2026) has finally been revealed. The film adaptation of Ali Hazelwood’s extremely popular novel can be streamed worldwide on Prime Video from September 23. The images can now be seen.
Dating the professor
The Love Hypothesis is based on the 2021 bestseller of the same name that became a huge hit on BookTok and the New York Times bestseller lists. The story revolves around PhD student Olive Smith who enters into a fake relationship with the infamous professor Dr. Adam Carlsen. What starts as a clever lie to convince her best friend that she’s over her ex quickly turns into a romance where the line between pretending and real feelings continues to blur.
A romantic one Star Wars-story
The leading roles are played by Lili Reinhart as Olive and Tom Bateman as the mysterious Professor Adam. Rachel Marsh, Jabouki Young-White, Nicholas Duvernay and Arty Froushan, among others, can also be seen. It is directed by Claire Scanlon, based on a screenplay written by Sarah Rothschild. The Love Hypothesis was initially written as Star Warsfanfiction under the name Head Over Feet. The story was inspired by the relationship between Rey and Kylo Ren. For the book publication, all references to Star Wars removed and the characters were given new names.
