After a good handful of films with the Minions and the shared mega success (with Nintendo) of Super Mario, the well-known animation studio Illumination is now going on the alien tour. Two sparkling names have been roped in for the voice roles: Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez.
Aliens intervene
The movie will Not Alone and revolves around two brilliant minds (Joe and Fran) who together prepare the launch of a revolutionary rocket. The two appear to be attracted to each other, although there is no immediate romance. And the couple also has other concerns when three aliens suddenly appear on the scene and take refuge in Joe’s house…

Green target
Chalamet (this fall in Dune: Part Three) will voice rocket scientist Joe, while we’ll hear Gomez (Emilia Pérez, Only Murders in the Building) as Fran. She is an astro-botanist who wants to ensure that Joe’s rocket is the first rocket ever to be powered by plant fuel.
Tone and target group
There is no reason to believe that Not Alone will deviate a lot from the Despicable Me franchise in terms of tone and target group, because director Eric Guillon was one of the creators of part three and also worked as a designer on other parts. In addition to Chalamet and Gomez, Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso) and The Diplomat actress Allison Janney also voice roles.
