Ricky Gervais’s astute satire is a household name in Hollywood, and so expectations are high for a next series with his signature. In the trailer of the animated newcomer Alley Cats (2026) projects the creator of The Office (2001–2002) in After Life (2019–2022) his humor on a gang of cats.
Dry philosophizing
Four foul-mouthed cats who philosophize about life and defend themselves against the dangers of the brutal outside world. The premise of Alley Cats is dry, but promising if you care about Gervais’ work. It should also come as no surprise that the comedian himself also lends his voice to one of the cats (Gus, ed.).
Permanent employees
In addition to Gervais, we also hear the voices of Diane Morgan, David Earl, Jo Hartley, Tom Basden and Andrew Brooke in this animated series. Basden has already worked with Gervais before After Lifein which he played the role of Matt. The same Basden and Earl were also on board when the maker returned with the comedy series more than ten years ago Derek (2013–2014) came.
Music to the ears
“Nine Lives, Zero Fucks,” is the tagline Alley Catsand if that sounds like music to your ears, then you can enjoy this animated comedy 7 augustus to set up. Derek in After Lifeboth by and with Gervais, can both be seen (again) on Netflix before then.
