Actress Cate Blanchett can soon add a new title to her impressive resume. The two-time Oscar winner has been appointed Cameron Mackintosh Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theater at the University of Oxford. During the 2026-2027 academic year, the actress will give lectures, participate in discussions with students and contribute to various academic activities.

Blanchett is thrilled with her position and describes it as a unique opportunity to connect with the new generation of creative thinkers. According to the actress, art has the power to make people look at the world in a different way. The appointment fits well with Blanchett’s background. Although she became known worldwide through films such as Elizabeth (1998), The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), Carol (2015) in Blue Jasmine (2013), her roots lie in theater. Blanchett was born in Melbourne, Australia. After studying at the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney, she quickly made a name for herself in the Australian theater world. Within a year she won several awards for her performances in theater productions by, among others, the Sydney Theater Company.
