The results of the night
Czechia – South Africa (score):
The Czech Republic was caught late in the match by South Africa (1-1) in their second match at the 2026 World Cup, Thursday in Atlanta. With one point, the two teams remain at the bottom of the Group A standings before Mexico and South Korea (three points each) face each other on Thursday evening.
Switzerland – Bosnia (4-1):
Switzerland, after an opening draw against Qatar, ended up crushing Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 thanks to the very good entry of Johan Manzambi, author of a double, for his second match of the World Cup on Thursday in Los Angeles.
The Nati thus takes the lead in Group B with four points and a flattering goal difference (+3), pending the meeting later between Qatar and Canada, who have one point each, like Bosnia.
Canada – Qatar (6-0) :
Canada, co-organizer of the 2026 World Cup, moved closer to qualifying for the round of 16, very easily winning its very first victory in a World Cup at the expense of Qatar (6-0), Thursday in Vancouver.
The Canadians were guided by their omnipresent striker Jonathan David and author of a hat-trick (29, 45 + 3, 90). The three other scorers were Cyle Larin (16), the Qatari Mohamed Manai against his side (75) and Nathan Saliba (64), who subsequently held up the jersey of his teammate Ismael Kone, victim of a serious injury to his left leg and whom he had just replaced.
Mexico – South Korea (1-0):
Mexico, one of the three co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup, became the first country to qualify for the round of 16 thanks to a 1-0 success against South Korea on Thursday in Guadalajara.
Already winners of the opening match against South Africa (2-0), the Mexicans scored a big blow with this short success which ensures them qualification, but also first place in Group A, and therefore a round of 16 at home in Mexico, before a possible round of 16 still in their capital.
