Bad news for fans of The Boroughs (2026). Netflix has decided to leave the sci-fi series behind the producers Stranger Things (2016–2025) will not be renewed for a second season, Deadline reports. The series appeared on the streaming service less than a month ago.
Successor of Stranger Things
The Boroughs was produced by Matt and Ross Duffer, known from the hit series Stranger Things. The series is set in a quiet senior community in New Mexico. The peace is shattered when the community is confronted with a supernatural threat.

No second season

According to various American media, there were initial discussions about a sequel and a writers’ room had even been opened for a second season. Netflix has decided to stop the series. According to Deadline, the disappointing viewing figures in the first weeks and the high production costs contributed to the decision to cancel the series.
