We had to wait sixteen years for it, but we will be able to do so at the end of this year Shrek Forever After (2010) finally returns to the cinema to follow the green ogre and his friend Donkey on new adventures. Universal Pictures just shared a new teaser for the highly anticipated family film Shrek 5 (2027).
Seventeen years later
Shrek (2001) was a huge success in 2001 and DreamWorks soon decided to expand the franchise with new parts. The last of the series, the fourth part Shrek Forever Afterwas released in 2010 and has remained eerily quiet ever since. Fortunately, next year (after postponement) it will finally be time for the fifth part! The new teaser has now been shared.
Eddie Murphy
Shrek 5 means that voice actors Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz are coming together again to bring the next adventure of Donkey, Shrek and Fiona to the big screen. The voice cast was then expanded with a number of other big names! We also hear Zendaya as the daughter of Shrek and Fiona in the latest part.

Criticism of Shrek 5
Previously, viewers had quite a bit of criticism of the first images of Shrek 5. According to fans of the iconic animated franchise, DreamWorks made too many adjustments to the childhood heroes. The characters would have been considerably polished and the animation style is no longer what it once was. “This really doesn’t look good,” said a fan at the time. We will see from next summer whether this criticism will continue when the film is released.
