
Blue shirt, khaki pants and large round glasses on his nose, Doctor Jérôme Iffrig accompanies his last patient of the morning. His office, located in Odratzheim (Bas-Rhin), a village of 550 inhabitants, overlooks a street lined with typically Alsatian half-timbered houses. The town hall, decorated with flowering geraniums, is just opposite, followed by the church, whose bell tower has just struck midday. And as a final nod to local identity, a sign announces the next celebration of the Midsummer bonfire, a tradition deeply rooted in the region: see you on June 13, with the sale of tartes flambées from 6 p.m.
