The dove and the olive tree
Armenians are turning their backs on war. This is one of the messages of the last legislative elections. Sunday June 7, 2026, half of the voters gave their vote to the formation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian, who advocates a metamorphosis of this small country sandwiched between very powerful neighbors, to the south of the Caucasus. Its long-term project is to open the borders and place Armenia on the trade routes leading from Europe to Central Asia. In the short term, this means consolidating and institutionalizing peace with Azerbaijan, after more than thirty years of wars which ultimately turned against Armenia.
