Looking back nostalgically on beautiful film moments from the past is well spent on Jennifer Aniston. The 57-year-old actress played the role of Rachel Green in the hit series for many years Friends (1994–2004), and also received a set visit from her then husband Brad Pitt. In conversation with Variety Aniston and her co-star Lisa Kudrow look back on the recordings.
‘I Hate Rachel’
The now 62-year-old guest-starred in “The One with the Rumor,” one of the episodes of the eighth season. Ironically, Pitt’s character Will Colbert was introduced as a member of an “I Hate Rachel” club, of which the inevitable Ross (David Schwimmer) was the standard bearer. At the time of filming, Pitt had not been married to Aniston for long – the two eventually split in 2005.
It was pretty hilarious for the show’s regular stars to see Pitt in such an awkward guest role, Aniston agrees when Kudrow brings it up:
I remember it well, that was very funny. Those guest stars were always nervous, remember? I found that really fascinating
Jennifer Aniston
The comment, although brief, is notable because Aniston rarely talks about her past relationship with Pitt anymore. Last year she spoke about the divorce for the first time in a long time in an interview with Vanity Fair.
Talk louder
Kudrow explains that many guest stars had no idea what tone to take because they were used to acting in movies and the sitcom required a slightly different attitude from them. “Someone asked me once, and I didn’t know how to explain it,” she says, “so I just told them to talk with the same intention, but louder.”

8.8 Watch on HBO Max • The series “Friends” centers on the daily lives of six friends in New York: Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) and Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow).
Not the only one
Over the years, Brad Pitt has not been the only famous Hollywood actor who Friends honored with a guest appearance. Sean Penn, Isabella Rossellini, Julia Roberts and Bruce Willis, among others, appeared in the sitcom.
