Security Council meeting after the capture of Beaufort fortress in Lebanon

The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Monday afternoon requested by France after the Israeli army seized the iconic medieval Beaufort fortress in Lebanon, diplomatic sources announced on Sunday.

The Israeli army announced on Sunday that it had captured the medieval Beaufort fortress. Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed a “decisive turning point” in his offensive in southern Lebanon, where he said he was determined to “crush” the pro-Iranian Hezbollah.

– The head of American diplomacy Marco Rubio spoke with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the ongoing negotiations, affirming that it is up to Hezbollah to stop the shooting first.
