
In March 2025, the shock series Adolescence attempted to understand how an ordinary boy was capable of committing the worst under the influence of social networks and masculinist theories. One of its creators, Jack Thorne, took up His Majesty of the Flies barely a year later, a classic of children’s literature (although reserved for readers over 12 years old). We understand what could have seduced the British screenwriter in this disturbing dystopia: the dark vision, devoid of naivety, of humanity in the making through this group of children, aged 6 to 13, left to their own devices after a plane crash.
