
Failing to have won the African Cup of Nations, lost in the final against Senegal, Morocco has just won another prestigious continental title. That of the most industrialized country, dethroning South Africa, according to the African Development Bank (AfDB). The Sherifian Kingdom thus overtakes a leading group made up of other northern countries, including Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia. Morocco is reaping the fruits of a strategy initiated by King Mohammed VI in the early 2000s, when the country was historically dependent on agriculture and tourism.
