Tough choices
Lawmen: Bass Reeves tells the true story of Bass Reeves, a former slave who becomes one of the first black US Marshals west of the Mississippi. In the harsh post-Civil War America, Reeves tries to build a new life for himself and his family, but his exceptional talent as a detective and marksman soon attracts the attention of the authorities. He unwillingly ends up in a dangerous world full of criminals, corrupt rulers and lawlessness.
As Reeves continues to make a name for himself as a marshal, he must make tough choices between his duty and his family. His work constantly puts him in mortal danger, but it also takes a heavy toll mentally. Despite the discrimination and violence he faces, he becomes a legendary law enforcement officer who catches hundreds of criminals and gains an almost mythical reputation in the Wild West.
Dennis Quaid
The series is part of the universe of Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, but is completely independent in terms of content. The lead role is played by David Oyelowo, with roles also played by Dennis Quaid, Lauren E. Banks and Donald Sutherland, who died in 2024.
