
Mubi has shared the first trailer for the upcoming queer satirical slasher film Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026). The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 13, where it was greeted with a six-minute standing ovation. The film will be released in Dutch cinemas later this summer.
Breathing new life into the slasher series
The plot description reads: After years of sloppy sequels and a dwindling fan base, the slasher series ‘Camp Miasma’ is entrusted to an enthusiastic young director to breathe new life into the series. But when she visits the star of the original film, an actress who has since retired and is shrouded in mystery, the two women find themselves in a bloody world of desire, fear and madness.
Strong cast
In addition to Gillian Anderson and Hannah Einbinder, the cast also includes Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Quintessa Swindell, Kevin McDonald and Jack Haven.
Impressive career
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is writer and director Jane Schoenbrun’s third feature film, following We’re All Going to the World’s Fair (2021)in I Saw the TV Glow (2024). Schoenbrun will soon be serializing the graphic novel Black Hole writing, directing and producing for Netflix.
In theaters at the end of this summer
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma appears on 20 augustus in Dutch cinemas.
