
The numbers are barely believable. In two weeks, the Instagram account of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the “People’s Cockroach Party”, reached nearly 23 million subscribers. “Basically it was just a joke. None of this was premeditated,” assures Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the movement. Aged 30, this Indian communications student at Boston University in the United States is at the origin of an unprecedented digital movement in his country.
