The cinema film Michael (2026) is an unprecedented success and wrote history shortly after release. Due to the somewhat open ending of the film, there was immediate speculation about a possible sequel. That sequel has now been confirmed by Adam Fogelson, chairman of Lionsgate, the film studio behind the biopic.
Still so much to tell
Michael Jackson fans can look forward to a second film. However, Fogelson states that it is not necessarily a sequel and that the film may not chronologically pick up where the first part left off.
We’re incredibly excited about the progress we’re making on a second one Michael-film. All discussions we have with all parties involved are going exceptionally well (…) Many of the largest and most popular parts of his music catalog were not covered in the first film. There are also so many events, even within the same time period as the original film, that have not been covered. We are confident that we can once again create an incredibly entertaining film that will appeal to a global audience once all the pieces come together.

Who are the people involved?
Although the sequel to Michael has now been officially confirmed, the project appears to still be in a very early stage of development. There are no concrete details about the story, the cast or a possible release date yet. In addition, it will be interesting to see which people from Jackson’s immediate circle will have a larger role in the sequel. Surprisingly enough, some important family members were missing from the first film. For example, sister Janet Jackson reportedly did not want her to be portrayed in the biopic, while sister Rebbie Jackson, who often stays out of the spotlight anyway, was completely absent, as was younger brother Randy.
