True-life drama from ‘Sex Education’ director coming soon to Netflix: watch the trailer – Paudal

Joy (2024) got his trailer. The Netflix film about the birth of IVF, or artificial insemination, is coming to the streaming service this fall, so it was high time for new images. With Bill Nighy, the true drama can count on an extremely experienced leading actor.

Opposition from all sides

The story takes place in the period from 1968 to 1978. Three pioneers in the field of birth technology were confronted with opposition from the church, the state, various media and the medical world to promote their ideas about IVF. Ultimately, their efforts led to the first “test tube baby,” Louise Joy Brown.

Nighy & co

Ben Taylor, one of the creators of Sex Education (2019–2023)started working on this story for Netflix and could therefore count on the services of Bill Nighy (Living (2022)). Also Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho (2021)) in James Norton (Nowhere Special (2020)) are featured in the drama.
