The Mexican peso starts the month of October with slight losses, amid the economic uncertainty caused by the inauguration of Claudia Sheinbaum, who on this first day of the month begins her six-year term as the first woman to be president of our country.
The dollar is quoted in international markets around 19.71 pesos per wholesale dollar, which represents a depreciation or loss of 0.13% if we compare it with the previous day, Monday, September 30, in which the dollar was trading at approximately 19.69 pesos.
“Claudia Sheinbaum will take protest, so the day will be a holiday in Mexico and volatility could be expected due to a lower volume and waiting for news that pcould affect investors’ cautious sentiment“said specialists from Monex, an American firm that participates in the currency trading and international payments sector, according to Bloomberg.
October began with a notable strengthening of the US dollar.
Because this October 1st is considered a holiday in Mexico, banks will remain closed. However, this is the exchange rate in the digital banks of the main banks in Mexico:
- Banco Azteca buys at 18.35 and sells at 20.10
- BBVA Bancomer buys at 18.83 and sells at 19.96
- Banorte buys at 18.45 and sells at 20.00
