The series can soon be enjoyed on Netflix This Summer Will Be Differentbased on the book of the same name by Carley Fortune. It was previously announced that one of the three leading roles will be played by Sophie Nélisse, but the other two have now also been cast. Francesca Reale is known for her role as Heather Holloway in Stranger Things (2016–2025) and Roby Attal, known for The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020), complete the trio.

This Summer Will Be Different is a romantic drama series set over several summers on Prince Edward Island in Canada. The story revolves around Lucy, a twenty-something who returns to the island every year to spend time with her best friend Bridget. During her first visit she meets Felix and sparks immediately fly. Only then does Lucy discover that Felix is Bridget’s brother. He is the only man with whom Lucy cannot and should not fall in love. Despite their agreement to keep their distance from each other, Lucy and Felix continue to see each other every summer. While Bridget faces a personal crisis just before her wedding, Lucy returns to the island to help her friend. At the same time, she is confronted for the umpteenth time with the feelings she has had for Felix for years.
The recordings
The recordings of This Summer Will Be Different will start very soon and will take place on Prince Edward Island and in Toronto. According to the latest updates, filming will start on the island this Friday and will continue until August 20. Filming will then take place in Toronto from August 31 to October 16.
