The songs rise under the vaults of the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce-Mudzi-Maria cathedral in Bunia, capital of the province of Ituri, in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In the front rows, the faithful pray for the sick, caregivers and bereaved families. At the entrance, peace guards ensure compliance with health measures: each parishioner washes their hands before entering the building. Outside, benches allow latecomers to follow mass without breaking physical distancing. These gestures have now become part of everyday life.
