Three Corsair marine drones, unmanned surface vessels, targeted on Sunday “a submarine and ship maintenance facility” located in the port of Bandar Abbas, in the south of the country, detailed the American command for the Middle East (Centcom) on X.
The strikes, which highlight the role of drones in the arsenal of American military operations, “have degraded Iran’s capabilities to continue to attack commercial ships,” Centcom said.
Centcom accompanied its publication on X with a video showing these marine drones hitting maritime installations, causing the explosion of two docks.
Last month, the American army used a Corsair drone, deployed for the first time in the Middle East in March, to rescue two of its aviators, after the crash of their helicopter in the Middle East.
The Corsair, designed by Saronic Technologies, a Texas-based company, is a 24-foot, diesel-powered “autonomous surface vessel” that can be launched at sea, allowing larger vessels to launch and recover it without having to return to port.
