Almost two years after Netflix released the animation Midnight Sun announced, things finally seem to be moving forward. The streaming service has started casting the first characters. With this, the search for the next Kirsten Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson has officially started.
Looking for Jacob Black
Midnight Sun is based on the novel of the same name by Stephanie Meyer and tells the same story as Twilight (2008), but now entirely from the perspective of Edward Cullen. According to new reports, Netflix is currently hiring voice actors for Jacob Black and his father Billy Black. A Native American actor is specifically being sought for the role of Jacob. A voice match will also be sought soon for the rest of the characters. Meyer is once again involved in the project as an executive producer. The entire project will be managed by Sinead Daly. It is directed by Lynn Wang.
Release
While this casting news finally confirms that the project is still active at Netflix, there is still no word on its release date. Because it is an animated series, insiders expect that Midnight Sun will not appear on Netflix until the end of 2027 at the earliest.
