Shelter (2026) may not have achieved the expected figures at the cinema, but the film has now found its right audience via streaming. Worldwide, the thriller with Jason Statham ranks eighth in the list of most viewed films on Prime Video.
Stranded on an island
Shelter centers on Michael Mason, a former government assassin who has retreated to a remote island off the Scottish coast. He tries to put his violent past behind him and build a peaceful life. When young Jessie becomes stranded on the island during a heavy storm, Mason takes her under his wing. However, their growing bond draws the attention of dangerous figures from his past. As his former client Manafort and the ruthless pursuer Workman draw closer, Mason is forced to enter the battle again. To protect Jessie, he must once again use his deadly skills.
Barely any profit
Although it was previously thought that Shelter could have been a big hit for Statham, the film was quite disappointing at the box office. It cost an estimated $50 million to produce and grossed only $54.6 million worldwide.
