Little House on the Prairie (2026– ) finally premiered on Netflix this week. The story of Laura Ingalls Wilder is once again attracting many fans. But gets the compelling western series, known in Dutch as The Little House on the Prairiealso a second season on Netflix?
Where goes Little House on the Prairie over?
In the first season, we follow the Ingalls family as they try to build a new, permanent home just outside Independence, a small but fast-growing pioneer town. Together with their faithful dog Jack, the family has to deal with the harsh conditions of prairie life in the nineteenth century. From debilitating fevers to hungry wolves and devastating fires, these are trials that loyal fans will immediately recognize from the original books.

Alice Halsey crawls (Lessons In Chemistry (2023)) as Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracey (Elvis (2022), Hacksaw Ridge (2016)) plays her father Charles Ingalls, we see Crosby Fitzgerald (Palm Royale (2024–2026)) as mother Caroline Ingalls and Skywalker Hughes (Joe Pickett (2021–2023)) stars as Mary Ingalls, Laura’s older sister.
The cast of Little House on the Prairie is joined by Warren Christie, Jocko Sims, Alyssa Wapanatâhk, Meegwun Fairbrother and Wren Zhawenim Gotts. Rebecca Sonnenshine is the showrunner of the new reboot. She previously worked on series such as The Boys (2019–2026) in The Vampire Diaries (2009–2017) and has been a big fan of the books from an early age.
Gets Little House on the Prairie a season 2?
Netflix announced before the release of Little House on the Prairie indicates that there will also be a season 2! “We can’t wait to see this new adaptation of the Little House on the Prairiebooks with the world, and we are overjoyed that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story,” the showrunner tells Netflix. So we will have to wait a while for new episodes, but fortunately they will certainly come!
