The Dane Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) won the fourth stage of the Tour de France on Tuesday July 7 in Foix by starting in the breakaway, after a day run in very high heat.
Much faster, the rider from the Lidl-Trek team logically sprinted past a group of ten riders to get ahead of his American teammate Quinn Simmons and the Spaniard Raul Garcia on the line.

The Norwegian Torstein Traeen became the new wearer of the yellow jersey at the Tour de France, in place of Tadej Pogacar, by taking eighth place in the fourth stage within the victorious breakaway.
The Uno-X team rider was 24th in the general classification, 5 minutes and 6 seconds behind Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard at the start of the stage. When crossing the line, the peloton of favorites was about ten minutes behind the leaders, allowing the Norwegian, already wearing the leader’s red jersey in the last Vuelta, to don the yellow jersey for the first time in his life.

Wednesday’s stage
For the fifth stage of the Tour, the riders will leave Lannemezan for 158.3 km, before arriving in Pau. “A route without any real roughness has been traced to allow the go-getters to express themselves on the Place de Verdun. The teams of the main parties, impatient to do battle, will certainly do what is necessary to control the escapees of the day,” explains Christian Prudhomme.
