
Suzanne Collins released last year Sunrise on the Reaping out and that was it Hunger Games Universe further expanded. At the same time as the book was announced, Lionsgate also announced that work was already underway on an accompanying film adaptation! The release of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (2026) is getting closer and to celebrate, fans are being treated to new images!
Back in time
Sunrise on the Reaping takes us back twenty-four years, long before Katniss Everdeen’s rebellion. The dystopian world of Panem is preparing for the fiftieth Hunger Games, the infamous Second Quarter Quell. The story begins on the ominous morning of the Penance, the draw that will change the life of a young Haymitch Abernathy forever when his name is drawn.
New footage with Haymitch
In a new clip we meet Haymitch, the main character of Sunrise on the Reaping. We see some new images from the upcoming one Hunger Games-film; something that many fans are eagerly looking forward to. The new video, in which we see Joseph Zada as Haymitch, has received a lot of praise. “This is amazing,” one can read in the comments on YouTube. “I’m probably going to cry so hard in the cinema,” adds another. “I’m already in tears.”
Star cast
In addition to Joseph Zada as Haymitch, we also see many other well-known actors Sunrise on the Reaping. The cast also includes Mckenna Grace, Elle Fanning, Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Maya Hawke, Kieran Culkin, Whitney Peak and Iris Apatow. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping can be seen in cinemas from Thursday 19 November.
