Minions & Monsters (2026) has had a disappointing opening weekend. The animated film, the third film in the Minionsseries, grossed a low gross at the box office, setting a record for the franchise. Never before achieved one Despicable Mefilm so little in the first weekend.

A big disappointment, because that makes this animation the worst-grossing film of the entire franchise. Minions & Monsters can, however, count on rave reviews. The animation has a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer. “Or you Minions & Monsters depends on what you expect from the film. If you appreciate a little nostalgia mixed with some silliness, I can guarantee you will laugh throughout the film,” writes a film journalist about the animation.
Another reviewer agrees: “Minions & Monsters is more of the same, but at the same time a tribute and ode to the magic of making and watching films, with a genuine love for that era that shines through.”
