
“America will never be a communist country!” », swears the American president in front of the crowd, on the night of July 4, 2026, from the platform erected between the obelisk of the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. It’s almost midnight, and heavy downpours have delayed his speaking engagement to celebrate 250 years of the United States Declaration of Independence. His ultra-patriotism is not diluted, however, and he chooses, at the heart of his speech, to castigate communism, as he had already done the day before during an intervention at Mount Rushmore.
