It was one evening last week. One of those heatwave evenings where the only effort I make is to go to the freezer, regret not being able to curl up there and have an eskimo to console myself. After this commendable physical performance, I join my son on the sofa to watch other people engage in sporting exploits (of a lesser scale, of course). In this case the players from the Ecuador-Germany match. Two minutes into the game, Germany opened the scoring. It took Ecuador just seven minutes to equalize. It’s Nilson Angulo who scores and, after brandishing his jersey in front of the public, he makes the sign of the cross.
