Following the favorable vote of the editorial staff organized on Thursday July 2, the Bayard board of directors formalized the appointment of Jérôme Chapuis as director of La Croix. He takes responsibility for the entire editorial staff, the daily newspaper and La Croix L’Hebdo, as well as the marketing, audience and development activities of the newspaper.
“This appointment is part of the Bayard group’s desire to consolidate La Croix as a major reference in public debate. Jérôme Chapuis will have the mission of strengthening the editorial singularity of the newspaper, developing its audiences and continuing its transformation,” explained the board of directors in a press release.
Jérôme Chapuis, 49, announced in May his departure from the morning show on Franceinfo radio, where he hosted the strategic 6 a.m./8:30 a.m. segment. A graduate of the Lille journalism school, who worked for Europe 1, i-Télé then RTL, he joined public radio in 2023 after four years spent at La Croix, first as editor-in-chief between 2019 and 2021 then as director of writing until 2023.
At the head of La Croix, Jérôme Chapuis succeeds Anne Ponce, who had headed the editorial staff for three years.
