Although Maternal Instinct (2026) has been on Netflix for over a month, the documentary is still experiencing great success. The incredibly bizarre documentary took first place in the global Netflix top 10 this week and was viewed by more than 25 million households in just seven days.
Full of lies
Maternal Instinct tells the true story of Taylor Parker, a young woman from Texas who wanted to cling to the lie that she was pregnant at all costs. She maintained a carefully constructed deception towards her boyfriend, family and the outside world for months. As more and more people began to doubt her pregnancy, Parker ultimately made a decision that still makes even the makers of the documentary shudder. The case came to light after a police officer stopped her along the highway in 2020.

Too nasty
There is still extensive discussion about the documentary on social media. Some even describe the story as grimmer than fiction. For many, the documentary is too intense to watch. Mention others Maternal Instinct one of the most disturbing true crime documentaries they have ever seen and afterwards they say they have had enough of the genre for a while.
