Good news for fans ofDept. Q (2025– ): Netflix has officially started filming the second season of the popular Scottish crime series. At the same time, the streaming service announced which new faces will be joining the cast.
Investigation team for unsolved cases
In Dept. Q stars Matthew Goode as Chief Inspector Carl Morck, who, from the basement of an Edinburgh police station, leads a team of misfits who deal with cases previously considered unsolvable.

Carl Morck is a competent agent, but as a colleague he is a bit difficult. His sharp sarcasm has not won him any friends in the Edinburgh police.
New names for season 2
New cast members include Aisling Franciosi (Speak No Evil (2024)), Greg Wise (The Crown (2016–2023)), Nicholas Rowe (Red Eye (2005)), Tony Curran (Outlander: Blood of My Blood (2025– )), Hamish Clark (Monarch of the Glen (2000–2005)), Alex Ferns (The Batman (2022)), Ross Anderson (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (2026– )), Rebecca Root (Heartstopper (2022–2024)), Isla Johnston (The Queen’s Gambit (2020)) and Amy Brenneman (The Old Man (2022–2024)).

Based on the books by Jussi Adler-Olsen
Dept. Q is based on the successful book series by the Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen. The series was developed by Scott Frank, known for the successful Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit (2020). Production is in the hands of Left Bank Pictures, the studio behind it The Crown (2016–2023).
One of Netflix’s biggest international successes
Growing since the premiere Dept. Q one of Netflix’s biggest international successes outside the United States. The expectations for the second season are therefore high. A release date for the new episodes has not yet been announced, but it is certain that recording in Scotland has officially started.
