The first trailer ofPractical Magic 2 (2026) has been released, finally giving fans their first look at the long-awaited sequel to the 1998 cult classic. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as witch sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, who are once again confronted with the age-old curse on their family.
The curse isn’t over yet
In the trailer, we hear Sally say, “You’ve probably heard of the Owens family – the ones from Massachusetts that the neighbors whisper are witches.” It soon turns out that the curse is still making victims. The images introduce, among others, Joey King (The Act (2019)), die Sally’s dochter speelt, in Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai (2018–2025)) as her lover. However, their romance seems short-lived when a tragic accident brings the dark family history back into the spotlight.
Familiar faces return
In addition to Bullock and Kidman, Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing also return as the beloved aunts Jet and Fran Owens. In the trailer, Fran once again emphasizes the film’s central theme: “No magic is stronger than sisterly bond.” Also Lee Pace (Foundation (2021– )) appears as a mysterious man who becomes involved with the sisters, while Gillian encourages her sister to open up to love again.
In this film, the Owens sisters are once again confronted with the dark curse that threatens to tear their family apart forever.
New team behind the scenes
Where Griffin Dunne first Practical Magic (1998), this time takes Susanne Bier (Bird Box (2018), The Perfect Couple (2024)) takes his place in the director’s chair.

Sally and Gillian Owen were raised by their aunts Frances and Bridget after the death of their parents. The two sisters have magical powers that they enjoy.

Practical Magic 2 appears on 10 september in Dutch cinemas.
