The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rules in favor of Arcom against CNews. In a judgment published Thursday June 18, 2026, it considers that the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (Arcom) did not infringe on the channel’s freedom of expression by sending it a formal notice on May 10, 2022. This call to order, the last step before the sanction, concerned comments made on November 21, 2021 on CNews by an infectious disease specialist. During the program “Les dots sur le i”, he denied the existence of a fifth wave of the Covid epidemic in France and affirmed that it would soon be over, even though scientific data indicated the opposite.
