Netflix has officially announced the release date of Alley Cats (2026), the new animated series for adults from Ricky Gervais. The comedian, known for, among other things After Life (2019–2022) in The Office (2001–2002), this time swaps his human alter ego for a feline character in a brand new animated sitcom. The tag line“nine lives, zero fucks”, already sounds promising.
A group of cats with big life questions
Alley Cats follows a colorful group of wild British cats from different levels of society. As they search for friendship, companionship and their place in the world, they philosophize about everyday life in their own unique way. The series combines humorous and sometimes downright absurd stories with surprisingly recognizable themes. According to Netflix, viewers can expect the familiar combination of warmth, cynicism and sharp observations that made Gervais’ previous work so popular.

The adult animated series follows the trials and tribulations of a group of feral British cats from all walks of life, who seek companionship as they reflect on everyday life.
Strong voice cast
In addition to Gervais himself Alley Cats about an impressive voice cast with several actors who have previously worked with him. The confirmed cast includes: Ricky Gervais as Gus, Diane Morgan (Cunk on Earth (2018– )) als Olive, David Earl (Brian and Charles (2022)) as Puke, Jo Hartley (This Is England (2006)) as Kitten, Tom Basden (After Life (2019–2022)) als Ponce, Andrew Brooke (Children of Men (2006)) as a catch.
Many of these names previously worked with Gervais on projects such as After Life (2019–2022) in Derek (2013–2014).
On Netflix from August
Alley Cats will from 7 augustus 2026 will be available to stream worldwide on Netflix. Monday June 22 the official trailer will also appear.
