Michael J. Fox will voice the lead character of a new animated film for children, Dragoons. That has Variety confirmed. Fox has suffered from Parkinson’s disease since the 1990s and retired from acting in 2020. Later he opened the door again for roles that were still compatible with his health restrictions.
Dragon, awaken
The synopsis of Dragoons is curious: the story revolves around a company employee who discovers that the person he has to train is actually a dragon (and so is he). It turns out that the two were once powerful beings, but were deliberately made ‘smaller’ by their current boss, CEO Hex. Together the couple tries to reawaken their species and reclaim their deserved place.

A worker at an ordinary company is completely blindsided when the person he has to train suddenly turns into a dragon.
Animation studio
Michael J. Fox will provide the voice of Dougie, the employee who comes to Dart as an apprentice. It is not yet clear who will take on the latter role. Dragoons is created by the animation studio ICONwhich works with several major streamers. Previously, for example, the studio was responsible for Charlie the Wonderdog (2025) (met Owen Wilson).

Beating voice
“From the moment we started developing the character of Dougie, we knew we needed a voice that was warm and unyielding,” says studio boss Shea Wageman about bringing in Fox. Last year, the 65-year-old Back to the Future star guest-starred in the Apple series Shrinking (2023– ). He also performed a small voice role for the Disney animated sequel Zootropolis 2 (2025).
