Zelensky asks Trump for more anti-aircraft missiles
Volodymyr Zelensky asked Donald Trump to provide kyiv with more missiles for Patriot air defense systems against a backdrop of an intensification of Russian attacks, according to a letter from the Ukrainian president addressed to his American counterpart revealed on Wednesday May 27.
In the letter signed Tuesday, Volodymyr Zelensky asked him to “help” Ukraine “obtain this vital protective tool against Russian terror – the Patriot PAC-3 missiles and additional systems – in order to stop Russian ballistic missiles and other Russian missile attacks” on Ukraine.
The Quai d’Orsay summons the Russian ambassador
France announced that it had summoned the Russian ambassador after Moscow’s call for foreign diplomats to leave kyiv before new strikes on the Ukrainian capital, already bombed by Russia last weekend.
“Following the massive strikes last weekend and in the face of the unacceptable threats weighing on Ukrainian civilians and foreign diplomats, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs is summoning the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to France at the request of the Minister,” a spokesperson for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a statement.
For several days, Russia has been threatening an escalation in its attacks on Ukraine, in revenge for a Ukrainian strike that killed, according to Moscow, 21 people in a high school in occupied Ukrainian territory.
