Starting this week, horror fans are watching Backrooms (2026), a film based on director Kane Parsons’ immensely popular YouTube universe, better known as Kane Pixels. In a few days the time will finally come.
Mysterious room
The ‘Backrooms’ originated from a 2019 internet post on 4chan and grew into an online horror phenomenon. Renate Reinsve
The sci-fi horror film is produced by James Wan and is based on Parsons’ viral found footage videos, which collectively amassed nearly 100 million views. It is striking that Parsons, only 19 years old, directs himself. The cast includes 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sentimental Value star Renate Reinsve and Creep actor Mark Duplass.

When furniture salesman Clark discovers a hidden portal in the basement of his store, he becomes trapped in an alternate reality;
