In the run-up to season 3 of House of the Dragon (2022– ), Entertainment Weekly has shared new exclusive images featuring Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen), Tom Glynn-Carney (Aegon Targaryen) and Ewan Mitchell (Aemond Targaryen) and a first look at the highly anticipated Battle of the Gullet. This time the focus is entirely on the three Targaryens who are involved in a brutal battle for power in Westeros.
Battle for the throne
For those who have lost the story: in season 1, Aegon seized the throne that Rhaenyra believed was rightfully hers. Since then she has been trying to regain her position. In the meantime, Aemond is increasingly becoming the unpredictable factor within the conflict. After almost killing his own brother Aegon in season 2, he seems to mainly pursue his own ambitions.

‘House of the Dragon’ is a prequel series to ‘Game of Thrones’. In the series, the Targaryen dynasty is at the height of its power, with more than 15 dragons under its control.

Characters are ready for war
In addition, the first images of the Battle of the Gullet have also been shared. At the start of Season 3, Corlys Velaryon heads his fleet to defend the blockade from a heavy attack.

Abigail Thorn also returns as Sharako Lohar, the Lyseni commander who joins Team Green to attack Corlys’ fleet. In the first official photo of her character in season 3, it is immediately clear that Sharako is ready for war.

We also got a new look at Abubakar Salim as Alyn van Hull. In the photo he appears to be shouting orders from a ship, indicating that he would play an important role during the Battle of the Gullet.
