Just days after the devastating news that Stew McLean had passed away, local authorities are still investigating what exactly happened to the Virgin River actor. The police assume murder, and that assumption hits (extra) hard on McLean’s acquaintances and family members.
Realize the loss
News of McLean’s death broke over the weekend, and since then several people who knew the actor personally have shared their thoughts on social media. The actor’s body was found in the Lions Bay area of British Columbia, Canada, after which it was determined that McLean had been dead for a week at the time.
His acting coach Jeff Seymour realized something was wrong when McLean failed to show up for scheduled tapings. “He was very precise with these kinds of things,” Seymour said The Canadian Press. “He would never just blow something off or oversleep. So when I heard he wasn’t there, I knew something was wrong.”
Storyteller
Friendly director and screenwriter Ryan Minaker commemorates the actor on Facebook. “He passed away far too young and in a terrible way,” he says. “He was a great guy who could inspire people everywhere when it came to his acting talent.” Seymour calls the actor intelligent and well-read and states that McLean was an excellent storyteller.
Brother and sister
McLean’s sister Kat wrote on Facebook that she and her sister Laura Ferguson will miss their younger brother dearly: “He was genuine, honest, caring and funny.” Jodie Caplan, who is associated with the talent agency that represented McLean, emphasizes that numerous casting directors praised his qualities.
