Tom Holland revealed that he personally contacted Sony to reshoot the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) so that he could first star in Christopher Nolan’s new film The Odyssey (2026).
Uncomfortable choice
According to Holland, both films originally had the same shooting dates. As a result, the actor had to make an uncomfortable choice between his role as Spider-Man and his role in Nolan’s mythological spectacle film.
Ultimately, Sony decided to agree to moving the shooting dates of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. According to the actor, Nolan’s reputation played a major role. The director is known for delivering his films on a tight schedule.
Delay had unexpected benefits
Ultimately, the delay turned out to be positive for the Marvel film. The postponement allowed Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), Just Mercy (2019)) come on board as director.
Two major releases one after the other
Surprisingly enough, they appear The Odyssey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the cinema shortly after each other. Both films will be released in theaters next month. Nolan’s film runs from 17 Julywhile the new Spider-Man movie op 31 July appears.
