
The Legend. This is the title of the long-awaited book by Boualem Sansal which comes out Tuesday June 2. This “diary of a prisoner” powerfully recounts the year of captivity experienced by the 81-year-old Franco-Algerian writer. Arrested on November 16, 2024 when he got off the plane on the Algerian tarmac, he was questioned, locked up, tried, imprisoned. It took a year of Franco-Algerian negotiations, with the support of German diplomacy, for Sansal to be free.
