
A bill, debated in the National Assembly on June 1, would like to eliminate the secrecy of confession in cases of violence against minors. For Mgr Matthieu Rougé, bishop of Nanterre and president of the Council for Catholic Education, such a measure ignores the specificity of the sacrament of confession and would go against “religious freedom”.
