Equipped with white overalls, gloves and masks against lead pollution, a dozen master glassmakers work in the Simon-Marq workshop in Reims. Responsible for creating the six large contemporary stained glass windows designed by the artist Claire Tabouret for the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, they have already completed 70% of the work, noted the Minister of Culture, Catherine Pgard, who came to visit them on July 23, 2026. “Three completed bays are in the crate in secure State premises and the last three are well advanced,” according to Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger, the president of the workshop. “The installation of these new stained glass windows will take place next October and November, for an inauguration and unveiling to the public in December,” confirmed Philippe Jost, president of the public establishment Rebâtir Notre-Dame.
